Question I have these two distinct Shades ,but no Catalogue # . Are they listed in a Australian specialized Catalogue. And do/it or they command a significant price differential. The paper seems identical exept a slight yellow tinge, could this cause the "Shade "Effect"

David, that's an Australian Commonwealths Specialists Cat 1974 I'll post a scan shortly. I dug out my stock, and have been going through about 300 I cannot see a light Blue at all, but I think I have found a deep blue. I'll scan for a comparison.

I think it rather extraordinary, that you have picked this up, I have hundreds and they all look the same to me, perhaps it's late. My deep blue seems to be perhaps just a fresh ink job, the definition is poor, which gives it a seemingly differing shade but I think they are both "blue" If you want an old tatty, dog eared Aust Spec Catalogue I still have a few kicking around, just email me a suitable address Type R27 3.5d |

The one on the right is the normal stamp color.
This is SG 31
The one on the left is the color variant listed as SG 31ca Bright Blue.
They are both listed in my SG Australia Catalog (2005) at 60 pounds for mint examples.
Edit: Now that I think about it, I am going to have to go through my copies to see if I have one. |

Smauggie, are you sure you're looking at the same stamps? I make these 3½ds SG 207 (bright blue) £2.25 mint and 60p used, and SG 207a (deep blue) £1.75 mint and 60p used in the 2012 Gibbons. |
