This morning I received another lot I had won at auction. As usual every edge and flap of the envelope was clagged down with Sellotape without a single gap though which one could insert a knife, let alone a finger, to get the opening process started.
I cut into it with no way of knowing if my knife was going straight into the contents. Fortunately not; but when I got inside there were two pieces of card again entirely clagged with Sellotape - and the whole process began again.
Second penetration completed, I located the actual item, and now had the problem of extracting the purchased cover without getting it caught on the now exposed sticky edges of the tape.
On this occasion I succeeded and collapsed with exhaustion; but on two recent occasions I have damaged items which no doubt arrived in perfect condition but weren't by the time I had extracted them.
I refuse to accept that all this 'safety' is necessary. Sellers seem to be more interested in being able to claim how carefully and securely they pack than in the convenience of the buyers.
