Hello all,

I found these among my grandfather's WW collection from way back. I do not collect this area, but have a few questions if anyone would be willing to give some advice to a leaning man.

The set is MNH.

My first question would be are these fakes? I could see someone back in the day faking the higher denominations, but not really the lower ones. But hey I really have no clue.

Also were the fakes made back when these were newly released, or were they made later once the value of the higher values gained in monetary value? The reason I ask is that these were collected back in the early 30's-40's then put away for the past 70-80 years.

The reason I ask is that Scott's listing includes a phrase on there being fakes with a double line over the "POSTES". And I guess another question would be: if fake are they worthless, or do they/would they still hold a collectible value like some other fakes/forgeries of other countries?

Next question would be on the centering/shifting of the black ink parts of the design. I noticed a few of these have some small shifts, while the 2, 3, and 10 show more pronounced shifts. Not sure if this would hurt value, or possibly help (If these were originals of course).

And my final question would be: What the heck is going on with the top perfs on the six Chahis? Was this the top of the sheet position, or an error in perforating the stamp? It appears to almost be roulette.

Well that is all I have for now. Any answers, information, or questions are most welcomed. I plan on getting rid of these in the future and do not want to sell something I am not sure of in the fullest.

I can do higher resolution images if needed.

I realize this is a very old post but I have also come across these stamps and wonder if there is an easy way to discern whether the stamps are fake or real. Thanks.

Awesome!!
After many years of studying Iran I can tell how:
1. ANY early Iran that is mint, 96% fake.
2. The classic reference book, $200.00, of which I refer to daily has all the answers you need.
3. You can buy from the web site listed above.
4. Get ready---two lines over the 'p'on the left there===100% fake...
I deal with M. Sadri on Iran stamps all the time. I send him stamps to certify for resale...check out that web site tons of good info..good luck

M. Sadri's web site is: http://persi.com . His catalogues are essential; albeit a bit pricy; if one is getting into early Persian/Iranian stamps. 91stang, I assume you're referring to one of those catalogues?
