Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (1880 – 1960) was an English architect noted for his blending of Gothic tradition with modernism. His work includes the Cambridge University Library, Lady Margaret Hall, Battersea Power Station, New Bodleian Library, Bankside Power Station, and Liverpool Cathedral. His Bankside Power Station, now houses the Tate Modern Gallery, is featured in a stamp in the Millennium Projects Series V issued in May 2000.  |

Douglas Cardinal (1934 -) is an Indigenous Canadian architect based in Ottawa, Ontario. His projects are marked with smooth curvilinear forms influenced by his Aboriginal heritage as well as European Expressionist architecture. He is perhaps best known for his designs of the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec and the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. His St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Red Deer, Alberta is featured in a Royal Architectural Institute of Canada stamp issued in 2007.  |

Christian de Portzamparc (1944 -) is a French architect and urbanist. His projects combine bold designs and artistic touch with a sensibility to their environment in the urban settings. His notable work includes Musée Bourdelle (Paris), The City of Music (Paris), Les Champs Libres (Rennes), LVMH Tower (New York), Philharmonie (Luxembourg), Cidade da Musica (Rio de Janeiro), and Musée Hergé (Belgium). His Philharmonie (also known as Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte Concert Hall) is featured in a stamp issued in 2005.  |

Lluis Domènech I Montaner (Barcelona, 1850-1923). Catalan architect with many Modernist buildings all around Catalonia, like the Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona) and the Institut Pere Mata (Reus). But, perhaps, his best known work is the Hospital de Sant Pau (Saint Paul's Hospital), built in Barcelona , between 1902 and 1912, a huge and wonderful Modernist hospital.  |

Juan Herreros (1958-) is a Spanish architect. His work achieved international acclaim and contributed to the recognition of Spanish architecture of the 1980s and 90s. His notable projects include Usera Public Library Madrid, Bank of Panama Tower, Carreras Múgica Art Gallery, Agora International Convention Center. His Munch Museum is featured in a stamp issued by Posten in June 2020.  |

Jože Plecnik (1872 – 1957) was a Slovene architect who had a major impact on the modern architecture of Ljubljana. His most notable work includes the iconic Triple Bridge, the Slovene National and University Library building, Ljubljanica Sluice Gate, and the Congress Square. He also designed churches in Belgrade and Prague. Pošta Slovenije issued a souvenir sheet in 2017 to highlight his work.  |

Jan Duiker (1890 – 1935) was a Dutch architect and is a key figure representing the Constructivist movement. He worked in Paris with Pierre Chareau in 1925 for projects such as Maison de Verre. His other notable work includes Meer en Bosch, Nirwana (residential building), Cineac (cinema), Openluchtschool (open air school), and Zonnestraal (estate). His Zonnestraal appears in a modern architecture stamp set issued in 2018.  |

Wilhelm Ze'ev Haller (1884-1956) was a German-Jewish architect. His work in Leipzig included churches, synagogue, and funeral hall. He is best known for his "White City" - a group of Bauhaus-style residential buildings in Tel Aviv. One of them, the Bruno Haus, is featured in a stamp issued by Deutsche Post in 2015.  |

José Grases Riera (1850 – 1919) was a Catalan architect who spent most of his career in Madrid. His notable projects include Monument to Alfonso XII of Spain, Palacio de la Equitativa,and Monument to Antonio Cánovas del Castillo. His Longoria Palace, the most significant example of Art Nouveau in Madrid, is featured in a stamp issued by Correos in 2008.  |

Karel Parík (1857-1942) was a Czech-born architect of Austro-Hungarian citizenship. He spent most of his life in Sarajevo where he designed over seventy major buildings (National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ashkenazi Synagogue, among others). He is honored in a stamp issued in 2007 by BH Post.  |

Alvar Aalto (1898 – 1976) was a Finnish architect and designer. His work evolves from Nordic Classicism to a rational International Style Modernism over the span of his career. His notable projects include Paimio Sanatorium, Helsinki University of Technology Auditorium, House of Culture, Viipuri Library, Villa Mairea Baker House, Finlandia Hall, and Theater opera house in Essen. His Finlandia Hall is featured in one of the stamps celebrating 450 years of the city of Helsinki.  |

Stjepan Planic (1900–1980) was a Croatian architect. He designed office and residential buildings in Zagreb, which are characterized by simplicity and functional planning. His notable projects include Napredak zadruga, Villa Fuhrmann, and The Mountaineer's Home Tomislav. One of the Croatia 2020 modern architecture stamps features his Napredak zadruga.  |

Claude-Nicolas Ledoux (1736 – 1806) was one of the earliest exponents of French Neoclassical architecture. His greatest works were funded by the French monarchy and came to be perceived as symbols of the Ancien Régime. His notable projects include Château de Mauperthuis, Hôtel d'Hallwyll, Pavilion of Mme du Barry, Salines de Chaux, and Théâtre de Besançon. A France 1970 stamp shows his Salines de Chaux at Arc-et-Senans.  |

Rafael Moneo (b. 1937) is a Spanish architect. He won the Pritzker Prize for architecture in 1996 and the RIBA Royal Gold Medal in 2003. His projects include National Museum of Roman Art, Davis Art Museum Wellesley, Kursaal Congress Centre and Auditorium, Valladolid Science Museum, Audrey Jones Beck Building, and Museum University of Navarra. One of the Spain EUROPA 1987 stamps features his National Museum of Roman Art.  |
