Raúl Chorão Ramalho (1914 - 2002) was a prominent Portuguese architect. His work is one of the most important in the Portuguese architecture of the second half of the twentieth century. He is also a leading figure of the generation of modern architects in Portugal after the end of World War II. He produced many projects in Portugal, Azores, Madeira, Macau and Brazil, including The Caixa Geral de Depósitos Building, Mall of Restelo, Regional Assembly Funchal, Social Security Center Funchal, Regional Assembly of Madeira, and Regional Hospital of Viana do Castelo. The Madeira (Portugal) Post issued a EUROPA Modern Architecture stamp on May 5, 1987 featuring the Social Security Center at Funchal.  |

Antoine Predock (1936 - ) is an American architect based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He established the Antoine Predock Architect PC in 1967. He was awarded the Rome Prize in 1985 and the AIA Gold Medal in 2006. His notable projects include La Luz Community, CLA Building at California State Polytechnic University, Music Conservatory, University of California Santa Cruz, Arizona Science Center, and Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Canada Post issued a stamp on August 20, 2014 to mark the inauguration of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  |

Aldo van Eyck (1918 ¡V 1999) was an architect from the Netherlands. He was one of the most influential protagonists of the architectural movement Structuralism. He received the RIBA Royal Gold Medal in 1990. His best-known works include the Pastoor Van Ars Church in Loosduinen, the temporary sculpture pavilion at Sonsbeek, the PREVI housing in Lima, Peru, Municipal Orphanage in Amsterdam, the ESTEC building for the European Space Agency in Noordwijk, and the Hubertus House. A stamp featuring the Civic Orphanage of Amsterdam was issued by the Netherlands Post on April 15, 1969.  |

Roger Taillibert (1926 - ) is a French architect, notable for designing athletic facilities. His designs make good use of prefabrication and pre-stressed concrete. His most notable projects include the Parc des Princes in Paris, the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Canada, and d'Coque National Sporting and Cultural Center of Luxembourg. The Luxembourg Post issued a stamp on May 4, 1987 featuring his National Sporting and Cultural Center.  |

Sir Terry Farrell (1938 - ) is a British architect and urban designer. In 1980, after working 15 years in partnership with Sir Nicholas Grimshaw, Farrell founded his own firm, Farrells. He garnered a strong reputation for contextual urban design schemes, as well as exuberant works of postmodernism. In 1991 his practice expanded internationally with major projects in Hong Kong and China. His notable works include The SIS Building, Charing Cross railway station, Edinburgh International Conference Center, and The Deep Aquarium. The Deep Aquarium was featured in a modern architecture series issued by the Royal Mil on June 20, 2006.  |

Sir Basil Urwin Spence (1907 – 1976) was a Scottish architect, most notably associated with Coventry Cathedral in England and the Beehive (Parliament Executive Wing) in New Zealand, but also responsible for numerous other buildings in the Modernist/Brutalist style. Some of his projects include Swiss Cottage Central Library, Hutchesontown C, Faraday Tower of the University of Southampton, 102 Petty France, Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh University Library, and Erasmus Building Cambridge. The two stamps here features the Beehive and the Faraday Tower.  |

Henning Larsen (1925 – 2013) was a Danish architect. He founded Henning Larsen Architects in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1959. From 1968 to 1995 he was a professor of architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He was often described as a "master the light". He is internationally known for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Riyadh and the Copenhagen Opera House. His other notable projects include Gentofte library, IT University of Copenhagen, Musikens Hus in Sweden, and Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center In Iceland. The Copenhagen Opera House was featured in a stamp issued by the Denmark Post on January 9, 2008.  |

Yaakov Rechter (1924 – 2001) was an Israeli architect well-known for his many modern buildings in Tel Aviv. He received the Israel Prize in 1972. Among his notable projects are Charles Bronfman Auditorium, Museum of Art, The Carlton Hotel, Performing Arts Center, The Mivtachim Sanitarium, and The Cameri Theater. One stamp featuring the Mivtachim Sanitarium was issued by the Israel Post on August 6, 1974.  |

Eduardo Souto de Moura (1952 - ) is a Portuguese architect. He is one of the alumni of the Porto School of Architecture, where he was appointed Professor. Souto de Moura was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2011 and the Wolf Prize in Arts in 2013. His notable projects include Paula Rego Museum Cascais, House in Bom Jesus Braga, Burgo Tower Porto, Municipal Football Stadium Braga, and Cultural Center in Viana do Castelo. A stamp honoring Souto de Moura and Paula Rego Museum was issued by the Portugal Post on April 7, 2014.  |

Paul Marvin Rudolph (1918 – 1997) was an American modern architect known for his use of concrete and highly complex floor plans. He was the chair of the Department of Architecture at Yale University for six years. His most famous work is the Yale Art and Architecture Building (A&A Building), a spatially complex concrete structure. His other notable projects include University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Claire T Carney Library, The Lippo Center in Hong Kong, Wisma Dharmala Sakti in Jakarta, and The Concourse Building in Singapore. One of the stamps in the Modern American Architecture series, issued on May 20, 2005, shows the Yale Art and Architecture Building.  |

Louis Isadore Kahn (1901 – 1974) was an American architect based in Philadelphia. He established his private practice in 1935 and served as a design critic and professor of architecture at Yale School of Architecture from 1947 to 1957. From 1957 until his death, he was a professor of architecture at the School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania. Kahn was one of the most influential architects of the twentieth century. His notable works include Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban, Yale University Art Gallery, Salk Institute, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and Phillips Exeter Academy Library. One of the stamps in the Modern American Architecture series, issued on May 20, 2005, shows the Phillips Exeter Academy Library.  |

Moshe Safdie (1938 - ) is an Israeli/Canadian/American architect, urban designer, and educator. His works are known for their dramatic curves, arrays of geometric patterns, use of windows, and placement of open and green spaces. He is best known for his design of Habitat 67, a model community and housing complex in Montreal. His other notable projects include National Gallery of Canada, Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Altair, The Class of 1959 Chapel, and ArtScience Museum. His National Gallery of Canada was featured in the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada stamp set issued on May 9, 2007.  |

Fernando Távora (1923 - 2005) was a renowned Portuguese architect and professor. He was a key figure of the School of Porto and had great influence on other contemporary Portuguese architects. His notable projects include Vila da Feira Municipal Market, Quinta da Conceicao Tennis Pavilion in Leça da Palmeira, Santa Marinha Convent in Guimarães, Renovation of Praça 8 de Maio in Coimbra, and Casa dos 24 in Porto. Casa dos 24 in Porto was featured in a modern architecture stamp set issued on May 31, 2007.  |

Eero Saarinen (1910 – 1961) was a Finnish American architect and industrial designer. He is considered one of the masters of American 20th-century architecture, famous for shaping his neofuturistic style according to the demands of the project. His best-known, iconic structures are Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Washington Dulles International Airport, and TWA Flight Center at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. Two of the American architecture stamps issued in 1982 and 2005 showcased his work.  |

Rafael Viñoly (1944 - ) is an Uruguayan architect. He established his practice in New York City, NY in 1983. He is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects. His notable projects include Brooklyn Children's Museum, Tokyo International Forum, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, Jongno Tower in Seoul, Cleveland Museum of Art expansion, and many academic buildings in the United States. His work of the new terminal at the Carrasco International Airport of Montevideo is featured in a stamp issued by Correo Uruguayo on October 2, 2015.  |
