It's all in the eye of the beholder. However, I challenge readers to match this one.

Interesting. I believe that is an American cancel. I have one on a US cover, but can't find it just now. Wonder how it got on a stamp from Gabon? Ah! I knew I had a scan of it. |

Here's a quote harking back to how unfortunate the use of this slogan cancel really was back in its day: Quote: Equally unfortunate was the slogan used in the United States ALIENS MUST REPORT THEIR ADDRESSES DURING JANUARY, which went all over the world cancelling the airmail stamp showing the Statue of Liberty and the caption 'Liberty for All'. The one I find especially comical (and I have one somewhere but can't find it right now) is the slogan "REPORT OBSCENE MAIL TO YOUR POSTMASTER". The slogan cancel was abruptly pulled from use, though, as noted in this quote: Quote: A common American slogan of the late 1950s REPORT OBSCENE MAIL TO YOUR POSTMASTER is said to have been abruptly withdrawn, after it was used to frank invitations to the wedding of a senator's daughter. |

Bones were used to make gelatin, a component in making waterproof bombs. |

Yes Rod, you are correct! The stamp gum which comes from animals (bones, skin, organs, intestines etc.) is gelatin; however I think this was/is rarely used on stamps. The more common type of stamp gum comes from starch and plant extracts

haha I just thought about what I posted...what if a vegetarian licked a stamp which had gum made from gelatin? Are they still vegetarians? |

Do you wonder who last licked the stamp you have in your hand?
Say a cover from the Versailles palace, or a Napoleon :)
