Alright guys I'll try to make this as short as possible. I started wanting to do something with all my dad and I's stamp collection but I have no idea where to start.

I'd like to be as cheap as possible being I am a college student and funds are slim. Right now I have about 50-60 FDC in glassline sleeves, a boat load of loose stamps(some which are catergorized) and a old US stamp album from the 70's(that uses hinges on the stamps) that's about 25% the way full.

What way should I go about organization? should I buy plastic sleeves that you slide them into(the kind that go into binders), or should I get a newer album that uses hinges?

The cheapest way might be to go with stockbooks. You can get a 32-page, 9-strip per page stockbook for under $20.

If you're looking to hinge the stamps, then you would need a proper US album or you would need to print your own pages, which would be more expensive I think.

Welcome to the forum skateclutch

Yes, stockbooks are a good way to keep your stamps.

A lot of collectors go by the rule when they are being mounted into albums, then the mint ones go in mounts and used are hinged. Each collector varies. That is the method I follow and, in fact, if a stamp has a CV of $10.00 and over, I'll mount that in a stamp mount as well.

As for albums, I print my own, but, that can be another issue. There are a couple of exceptions though. <G>
