I've decided to collect fancy cancels, and would like to mount them on black, blank, hingeless pages.
Before investing too much in black pages, you might want to try both black and white and compare. Reason for this - Most fancy cancels are black on a colored stamp. If you surround this with a lot of black background, it may be harder to discern the cancellation. White background would likely make the cancellations stand out more.
Likewise, if you have a stamp with a partial strike, you can mount it in a clear mount over a tracing of the full strike to "fill in the missing pieces."
Just a suggestion. Do whatever would make you the happiest.

Edited to add a bit more:
Stanley Gibbons has black quadrilled sheets in their Nubian album:
http://www.stanleygibbons.com/stanl...7925/SG53872You might be able to get it in the US from Regency Stamps in St. Louis, who distribute the Gibbons products. However, these aren't hingeless - you'll have to use mounts or hinges on them.
Also, here's an example I made up of what I meant by mounting a stamp over the tracing (done really quickly from stuff on the web)
