Bamra: I really enjoyed the Costantinopoli stamp. Are those rare? As a collector of Turkey and the area, I've got stamps or covers from Austrian/British/French/German/Russian and Romanian offices. I"ve been told though, that there are alot of counterfeits of Romanians. I'd send a scan but unfortunately, my Turkey collection is with my inlaws in Turkey.

Ajnabii, the Costantinopoli stamp is quite common.

There aren't that many different perfins found on Italian offices stamps, but the CL perfins, themselves, aren't that uncommon.

At that time, Credit Lyonnais was one of the largest banks in the world, if not the largest, and obviously active throughout the eastern Mediterranean, based on the frequency of CL perfins from the Levant.

Had my covers out so figured i'd post this one also. Haven't seen much Italy posted. The cover contains a scott E26 and two 494's from 1948. I don't have either in my Italy album so every time I peek at this I fight the urge to soak them off, but so far my will has been good. Also contains original letter. Nothing on the back so not posted.

Gibby, this was posted. Nothing on the back is a typical state for this time period and later. The question is if it was given Special Delivery treatment when it got to the US and there is no indication of that (either).

I started my Italian Colonies collection some years ago, but a change in life (including enlisting in the Army) derailed me. I just pulled out my packets of yet to be mounted stamps that have been lying dormant all this time, and am looking forward to getting my album up to date. Italy's African colonies especially interest me.
