I guess I forgot to mention all the boxes and plastic bins loaded with stamps to sort as well. That, plus my wife's collection seems to be getting bigger too.

WW 3 long boxes of filled glassine envelopes sorted by country. 2 Harris Standard Albums 2 Scott Blue Classic Albums
US 2 Scott Albums for Plate blocks 1 Scott Album for MNH 1 Harris Liberty for MH 1 Harris Liberty for used 5 Stockbooks for sheets, unmounted and duplicates.
I especially liked the shoebox count. I just gave away my "grocery bags" of stamps on paper.
Does anyone have trouble with their stamps staying in place in hingeless albums?

Quote: Does anyone have trouble with their stamps staying in place in hingeless albums? Only on open-top mounts. It's not a problem with split-back mounts. Unfortunately, I prefer the former. However, it is not a serious problem. If you find certain stamps shifting in open-top mounts, just push the stamp downward so that it fits a little more snugly in the mount. Of course, when you do that, then sometimes the stamp is not "well-centered" in the mount/box. |

k, couldn't you just use a little tiny bit of a hinge to hold it in place in the middle of the mount? Or don't hinges stick to the inside of mounts? |

I have seen collections in which the collector used an additional hinge to hold a stamp in place within the mount; so yes, the hinges will stick to the inside of mounts. However...
My reason for using a hingeless album is to avoid using hinges. If I have to use hinges to hold it in place, then I might as well hinge everything in a normal album instead of using a hingeless album.
Also, the reason I prefer open-top hingeless albums is because I like to be able to quickly remove and re-examine a stamp. Using an additional hinge defeats that purpose.
And of course, my hingeless albums are primarily for MNH stamps, so affixing a conventional hinge would make them LH.

I only collect US...
I do happen to have one UN Binder, 98% full. 3 UN FDC binders
I have 2 Disney topical binders, I promised those to my daughter.
For my US: 1 Scott Regular issues 2 Scott Commem issues 1 BoB 11 FDC binders 2 binders housing a Mystic state quarter collection, with several pages per state with all sorts of state related topical stamps mounted within. 1 binder housing a Mystic presidential dollars collection, again, with topical stamps. 1 postal envelope binder 5 misc binders with sheets, booklets, advertising cover, postal history, cinderellas, etc... 1 old stamp album, my father's old one, from the 60s, now housing duplicates. 1 very nice Lighthouse stock album with leaf separated pages and such, for my top notch duplicates. 1 Harris album, I got as part of a collection I purchased, that I still have to empty out. (I took out the 'good' ones already, but it's full of common stuff.
I have several other empty albums that I got as part of the collection I bought. I'll probably never need them though. They are on a bookshelf...
The albums that I actually have stuff in, that I listed above, are in a trophy case. |

Right now I am at eight..
2 Volumes of Harris Liberty for US 2 Volumes of Harris Ambassador for WW 2 Volumes for US Plateblocks (although I never seriously collected them) 2 Stockbooks for dupes and Chile/Egypt
I have just started the process of re-organizing onto Steiner pages, so I plan on 3-4 for US, 1 for Chile, 1 for Egypt, a stock book for topicals (although I haven't yet decided what to pursue) |

I'm at 23 Lighthouse albums at the moment but I just bought a 12 volume collection which I will find time to absorb into my collection some day plus many containers of stored extras and unprocessed material. |

I don't have enough albums/binders to keep my stamps in.. But I have 5-6 at least. My stamps are mainly in large envelopes and as I sort them, I put them in smaller envelopes within the large one.. :( Certain types which I have 500+ duplicates I keep in smaller boxes.. My unsorted German collection (probably 4000-5000) are in two larger boxes, waiting.. and waiting.. |
