A little bit of everything in there! I like the square-looking cancel on the Turkish page, top right.Looks unusual. I hope the foxing/crumbling on the paper hasn't affected the stamps |

I wouldn't be handling the album any more than I would have to. The album by itself is really a collector's item.
Nice item really and worth keeping.

This may be an instance where the sum is worth more than the parts. I say this because somewhere in the SCF database is a thread that speaks to this point where old albums are concerned. |

Beautiful. It looks like a museum piece. I'd keep it intact and preserve it. |

I don't think the album is worth saving.Leaving the stamps in it may degrade them more. I would catalog the stamps in it to see if there is a rare variety and then decide. If the stamps aren't worth much then sell or keep in the book. My experience with decaying books though is they never get any better. |

Crikey, that's just lovely, I am a sucker for those at auction, I snap them up. You are preserving it in one way, by digitalising it, broadcast good scans, and you have done your bit.
Tough call on what to do, I scan, as you, then rescue all the stamps. I could support mainaining the entire as well.
Just handling those old fellas gives me a real buzz.

Its a tough call I want to save the album, but after all I am a stamp collector, and want to preserve the stamps first and foremost.
To save them will take a lot of work they seem to be fused to the pages and some appear to be unused with original gum.
@Joe1225us I purchased this two world wide albums filled with stamps and I mean filled, a cover from Bavaria dated 1876, several manila envelopes filled with stamps, a few US revenue stamps and a French Stamp Catalogue dated 1915 from Amiens Yvert & Tellier for $150 I did not think it was a bad price to pay for the lot.

By the way can anyone tell me what the plate or Scott number is on the penny blue? The letters are J & C.
Thanks |

Oh wow! Never been lucky enough to acquire such a treasure, and a treasure it is in my book. Gorgeous album (maybe partly because of the condition) and mouth watering stamps... *starts searching for a 1800's album filled with stamps* |

If this album were mine, I would rescue the stamps and toss the album (provided the album itself is not worth some ridiculous amount - which is hard to believe given the condition). |

I can't believe all the people who just say "toss the album". This is a children's or beginner's album with a small beginner collection. The odds of anything in the album both having serious catalog value and being in a condition to make it worth removing is very small. What value it has is historical rather than financial. Leave it the way it is, put it away safely and once or twice a year take it out and look at it and remind yourself how fortunate you are to own it and what a long history this wonderful hobby has.
