Can someone give me a current catalogue value on these two 1936 Austrians SC#378-379.
I only have a 2003 catalogue, but they show pretty high value ($17.50, $42.50) at that time.
These are used and hinged.

Beautifully engraved by Mr. G. Jung. I was taken by their artfulness, but if they have value, they will be headed to ebay.
Thanks

I only have 2011 Scott catalog:

378 = $21.00
379 = $60.00 italicized

Your 379 looks genuine postally used to me.

Do we make the cancel on the 379 to be 1938, or '39? I'd guess 1939. Is that still a contemporaneous usage, or a bit late?

I think the date is January 1938 and that seems fine to me for usage. It was a definitive set and I don't think there was a later 5 schilling value except for air mail.

Austrian stamps were no longer valid after 31st October 1938 (following annexation by Germany in March).

From a value perspective I'd be much more concerned about the perf damage.

Thanks all. I was aware of the perf damage, and I've soaked off the hinges. ebay shows several pairs for sale (buy now) mint and used ranging from about $35-$72 mint and $50 used. Don't expect these would fetch that much, but it'll be interesting to see what the market says.
Fingers crossed.

The suspense is killing me!
These have been on ebay all week, and are ending in five hours. Only one bid ($.99) but 5 people watching it!
Hopefully there will be a rush at the last, otherwise someone's going to get a great deal.

Be happy; 30% for the 3 sch, 10% for the damaged 5 sch. Anything over $12 to $15 is pennies from Heaven.
