When I was a teenager I spent many relaxing hours in my basement with my Citation stamp album and mounds of world stamps. I was never really interested in the value of what I was collecting; I usually just bought lots of random worldwide stamps, and found my enjoyment in finding where they belonged in my album, filling the pages, and learning a few things about the countries they came from in the process. Remember the matchbooks that advertised 1000 stamps for $2.95? I loved those, and built a really nice little collection from repeatedly sending away for them.
Several years ago I sold my collection, a decision I regret to this day. And now, in my 40s, I would like to get back into stamp collecting, and I'd like to do it in the same way as when I was in my teens.
I need advice on the best way to go for a worldwide stamp album. What I liked about the Citation is that it was illustrated, had a section for almost every country you could think of, and had designated spots for stamps dating back to the late 1800s all the way through to the present day. I would like to purchase an album that has the same qualities.
I did see the Odyssey Worldwide Stamp Album, which for me looks like it might be a good choice, halfway between the small albums and the really expensive larger ones. I'm just wondering if you fine people have any suggestions or feedback for someone starting all over again.
