Who has the earliest felt marker cancel
Lee Newman patented a felt-tipped marking pen in 1910.
With all the covers going through the post I was wondering if anyone has a early example of this.

I was thinking that if this marker was invented say in 1840's and was shown to the Royal mail and they were sold on the ideal of using a marker as a cancel , would the hobby of stamp collecting be what it is to day? All those old covers that we love to collect cancelled with a big old felt marker would you still love them?
