This is what gave me the idea about the Huron cover. If I remember my history right, the navy discontinued these peace time markings as fast as they could after Pearl Harbor lest gunners mistake the "meatball" for enemy markings. |

This 1968 non-philatelic cover advertises the 19th annual Pennsylvania Dutch Folk Festival in Kutztown. An internet check reveals that the festival is still being held and 2019 was its 70th year. |

This one puzzles me. It's cancelled and unaddressed like a first day cover but it's not a FDC. The cancel also makes it too late for the show it's advertising. I'm guessing whoever collected this before me just liked the cachet. I think if it was me I would have mailed it to myself. I like covers that look like they have "lived". |

Fairly common to have extra cachets left over after an event. With the postmark date well after the event, there is a high likelihood it actually went through the mail instead of a collector hand-back. Thus a good chance this one had an address erased or an adhesive label removed. |

An 1894 Washington, D.C. company. Nice detail on the Fidelity Bldg image. The bottom of this cover was trimmed in opening and it lost part of the address. Receiving cancel on the reverse indicates the destination was Winston, NC. |

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example. I collect for enjoyment, not investment. APS Member #223433 Postmark Collectors Club Member #6333 Meter Stamp Society Member #1409 |

Good ones, Ecostic! On this one, I don't have any idea what "crumbs of comfort" could be. Could it be something you throw in the fire for entertainment? |
