I looked around a bit and didn't find anything on crumbs of comfort, but I think your guess is pretty good.

But I did find some advertisements related to the other products mentioned on the front:

Getting back to Advertising covers..the following three covers all appear to have hand stamped corners.

Nothing on the back.

This early Ukiah & San Fran RPO was missent to Nevada.

I was passed on a very similar cover, same stamp, same corner but a Fortuna postmark and then a week later I was offered this RPO.

Not that I'm into chickens but I have a second cover from the Racine Incubator Co. that I posted earlier. This one from a few years earlier, 1905, includes advertising and 2 page letter (only posted the first page). Envelope is a bit rough on the right side.

Lovely cover. Don Sellos posted a similar one on page 6 of this thread, a bit earlier usage (1935) than this one. Both are beautiful. Keep them coming.

Yes same company basically 9 years apart. the 1935 cover has more embellishments to the design. I would seek that one out too if given the chance.

Seems like flour mills liked illustrated envelopes during the early 20th century.

Grocer's, General Merchandise, Hardware and cars. Beautiful handwriting on the Kowalsky & Co cover. The cover is rough but really like Oldsmobile's 1924 Emblem.

While it is not a "cover", this UX12 has an all-over ad for all sorts of goods.
Any one have an idea as to what the tool shown actually does?

Pipe cutter? The lower face of the jaw is bladed. You grab the pipe tight and then rotate it around repeatedly until you have cut through.
