The USPS has posted on their website today (09/26/2012) an official statement announcing they will default on the second mandated Retiree Health Care Payment of $5.6 billion that was to have been due on September 30, 2012.
The statement concludes with an appeal for comprehensive legislative action as they continue in their efforts to return to long-term financial stability:
