I need your advice. ALL of you!
I have over a dozen of these packets of stamps from the British post office with stamps from Britain and Jersey.
I got them as part of my estate auction winnings a few weeks back. I don't collect this stuff, and have offered them to a very nice woman at my stamp club. If she doesn't want them they will go into our upcoming fall club auction.
But my problem is I don't know how to price these things. Like a car I assume the value drops as soon as it is driven off the lot. I want to be fair to her (she's a very nice lady) but I don't want to take a bath either.
Here are some examples...

The British packets still have the plastic wrap, though they are open at the end. None of the Jersey packets are wrapped. The last example is actually an envelope for the Queen's 80th birthday, with a 5 pound coin (don't know if it's legal tender).
Others include Andrew and Fergie's wedding, QEIIs 60 birthday, Liz and Phil's diamond wedding, Jane Eyre, and a number of Jersey definitives and commemoratives.
So, do these have extra value beyond the stamps? I don't just want to say 'make an offer', that's not worked for me in the past.
Any suggestions? Don't worry, I won't hold anyone here personally responsible. I just need your help.

Can't say alot about actual values other than I had a bunch (still have a few odd ball ones) and they all sold above stamp value by a fair amount . I believe the actual theme will dictate more than say face value. Not sure how prince charles and whats her face will fair since not exactly top of the royal favorites list. I think an unbiased opinion from one of our fellow UK membership would be more in order but I would say some premium above face for sure.

The "presentation packs" of British stamps are catalogued in the Stanly Gibbons GB concise catalogues. They are sold at a premium of about 50p in addition to the price of the stamps - to cover the cost of the additional packaging - and this remains the relative catalogue value. Occasionally some packs have a higher value to the stamps when they are produced in limited or special editions. The Jersey packs were very popular with collectors following postal independence, but have little value above that of the mint stamps as they were produced in huge numbers. The "coin covers" are another new found means of extracting hard earned money from collectors.. though moreso with non collectors who feel they are making an investment. Again, they are produced in such large numbers to have little real value.
If you are interested in GB packs and postal ephemera, the following dealers website should provide some information and values:

Thanks all very much for your imput. Anglez, your link is a huge help regarding the British packs. Unfortunately they don't seem to list the Jersey, but I can probably extrapolate from what I have here.
Cheers!

"Make an offer" is not a good look,
I walk away immediately, as a matter of course.

Do your research, estimate price, then knock off 25%
if she is a club member.
Otherwise sell elsewhere, club discounts are generally understood.
Learn other phrases that are more gentle
"I was thinking X dollars, what do you think?"
"How do you feel about $X?" etc

Sometimes I just give away stuff to club members,
or at least throw in a sweetener.
That's what a club is about in my view.

Discussing general stuff here, not exceptional rare stuff
that you would sell to a broader audience.

Understood Rod, thanks for the advice. Checked out Angelz' website and looked up the Jersey's on a couple of others. Getting an idea of value.
Appreciated Doug, I'll let you know.

All the post 1990 £5 commemorative coins are legal tender, though to be honest finding a shop that knows they are 'real' and is prepared to accept them will be considerably harder than finding one which will accept the NON legal tender Scottish/N. Irish banknotes (and yes I know these are legal CURRENCY - to stop a deluge of complaining).

Anyway rather than banking them at face value, I suspect that those silly coin collecting people would give you a small premium for the coins provided you haven't added sticky finger marks.

If the balance of what you have is similar to what you've shown, then I'd ask a fellow club member for $20-25, and I'd think that we've both come away with a good deal.

Mind you, this is with the understanding of the manner in which you've acquired them, as opposed to purchases from one of the new-issues services (where your cash outlay could approach $100).
