I just received a set of pages from Scott (via Amos Advantage) and am disappointed in the quality of the printing. Illustrations are indistinct in some places, the overall effect is that they look almost to have been photocopied. I suspect Scott is 'printing to order' for their products and that quality is suffering accordingly.
One other complaint about Scott- they do not issue any printed pricelist any longer- you have to go on their site and download it. That file is not a standard page size so you get it printed in small size- I cannot even read most of it. I think the Amos people need to re-evaluate some of the shortcuts they are taking now.

I also have noticed a decrease in stamp cut image quality for the Scott International Part I (1840-1940) that is now printed to order. ( Actually sold as four sub-parts and has a 1997 copyright.) The paper is better though. The stamp cut images are over-inked and smudged.

The '69 edition of "Big Bue" is on much thinner paper, but the image stamp cuts are clearer.

So, although the International is not the Specialty, it has the same poor image quality, and suggests that this problem can be found with the "print to order" albums.

I agree about the quality - both the printing, lack of illustrations and paper quality. If I didn't have so many stamps already mounted I'd be using another album system. Heck, I may still change.

It was paper quality that really put me off. I am re-mounting my US collection in Vario sheets. I will later print little labels to describe the stamps/sets to be inserted into the respective pocket.

'What do you mean by printed price list?'

I mean an actual catalog or borchure you cann hold in your hands turn the pages and look at without having to sit in front of a screen. Like they had for decades. I appreciate that perhaps 90 percent of their customer base has a computer but I still think they need to offer this option. I was told in a call to Amos that they don't put out a printed catalog. I question this and wonder if anyone has encountered a catalog of Scott products lately.

I was also disappointed with the quality of the printing of the Scott Minuteman pages I bought a year ago. They also looked like they had been photocopied, which I thought might have been the fault of the dealer. Now I know better.

I have also heard complaints about the quality of Scott 3-ring binders.

The pages I got were Germany part one- I have perhaps 90% of the stamps already for tghat section and any issue with the illustration quality is moot- they will be covered up anyway. The frame lines in some cases are indistinct and like I said, the pages look like someone photocopied them. I'd rather pay a bit more and get quality product.
