Left appears to be 1866, rouletted 10, embossed. What is the right?

The one on the right is a cut-out from an envelope or wrapper. Check the back to see if FAUX is stamped on it to distinguish originals from reproductions.

The diagonal printing is simply the denomination of the stamp.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I did a simple search and didn't find the previous thread. Lots of interesting stuff.

It does NOT say FAUX, so must be an original.

Not necessarily. Most reproductions/forgeries don't go to the trouble of stamping FAUX on the back, and often it is someone else who stamps it FAUX.

I don't much about stamped envelopes/wrappers, so I don't know how to tell fakes/reproductions from originals.
