I had never heard of this expression until I was trying to identify some older Hanover stamps. My Scott catalog says that the 1g Rose from 1864 has "Perce en Arc 16" which, I assume, is yet another type of perforation. I checked with a standard Merit Gauge on the top, and it is 16. I show a closeup of the side where it appears the "Piercings" didn't quite make it through the paper. Does anyone have some information on this type of perforation? Thanks.
