This could tag on to several other forum topics, but rather than hijack those let me share a process I am experimenting with to work with indexing the stamps in my Vario country pages. As I use it, it gives me a single document for write up, catalog numbers, insurance value and more. The first scan shows a page from my South Korean stock. Note that I put my Vario's inside sheet covers to make them turn easier in the binders plus it allows me to put sheets or covers in sleeves keeping the notebook the same size. Between each Vario page I insert two back-to-back index pages so that there is an index opposite each Vario page - the index also in a sleeve. Scan 2 shows the index page for the Korean Vario page. I use a three digit reference code where the first digit is the Vario row and the next two digits the stamp location in the row. Then I add information for country, Scott #, Year, Condition, Description and catalog value. I don't necessarily fill out all the information at once, but I do get the stamp into the Vario page even if I code it up later. If I move stamps around on the page I just change the reference number (I use pencil so I can erase). If a stamp moves to a different page altogether or into another album, I just cross the item out. So for example using the index, I have Scott 222 in Vario row 6, position 1 and position two of the row has Scott 186. I find this easier than the little slips of paper and can get more information on each stamp if I choose.
