When I first saw this (admittedly unprepossessing) stamp, which I did from the back, I assumed that paper fibres had adhered to it for some reason. However, after soaking failed to dislodge the fibres, I had a look at the front and realised that this stamp was printed on fibre paper - making it possibly an Australian first:

Like all oddities that go unlisted in the catalogues, it's hard to know what to do with a stamp like this. However, I couldn't help wanting to show it off here. I hope those who are familiar with 1950s' Australian stamps will be aware of the fact that they do not normally look anything like this!
