Don't hit your head, it is fun. Mine was on paper and I soaked some plain old commemorative's that were stuck together. What I found tucked in all of that mess was a pretty good #11 that I didn't have.

That is how I came across the orange E3, it was between two orange C31's. Not too bad a find, made me grin.

Well the monster is still breathing as I finally got up to the 10 cent commemoratives cataloged.
Now I am sorting up to the 10 cent definitives. Believe me there is a method to this madness.

Mkfarm that is a very nice find, thank you.

Sorting Definitives.

Cataloged Commemorative up to 10 cent.

PS. My wife would like to know if there is a end to this madness as she wants her table back.

Nice piles of Overrun Countries and Prexies. I envy your excitement but I don't envy the hours and hours and hours of work.

Hmmm...

This thread has been dormant for a long while, but curious to ask...

What happened next with all these stamps? Once the Christmas morning feeling wore off, the sorting completed, all the stamps put in glassines it looks like, cataloged, then?

Do you post them for sale on stamps2go or ebay?

Undo all the work down, put them all back in the box, then sell the unleashed3-lb monster to somebody else, so they can experience a similar feeling?

Tuck them all away in the basement, in the hopes that someday the supply of used stamps has dwindled to the point that this represents a small fortune (maybe once all the oil runs out and stamp compost is the fuel of choice?). Mad Max meets philately?

In seriousness, I can understand the pleasure that one finds in sorting through a huge mixed pile of stamps (creating order out of chaos on a small scale), but once all the sorting is done, what comes next?

I can't speak for Mac. Because I am a fairly new collector I have filled many holes with urchases like this one. I use the spares to trade or even give away to freinds and budding young collectors.
