Hi All

I am indexing my Canadian military mail covers from WW I and I am trying to get an idea how many YMCA logo types are out there that were used by Canadian troops in all theatres of the war. This also includes the American YMCA as well as the Canadian YMCA. As long as the cover was sent to / or from a Canadian address, to or from Canadian military personnel.

In my collection, I have 13 types, which I identified with my own system.

I am wondering if anyone can add to my list?

YMCA1 Logo 16 x 18mm
YMCA2 Logo 22 x 25mm
YMCA3 Logo 25 x 37mm
YMCA4 Logo 25 x 37mm
YMCA5 Logo 23 x 25mm
YMCA6 Logo 23 x 25mm "CANADIAN" omitted
YMCA7 Logo 15 x 17mm "AMERICAN" on top
YMCA8 Logo 15 x 18mm On Postal Card
YMCA9 Logo 27 x 28mm
YMCA10 Logo 25 x 25mm (almost square)
YMCA11 Logo 20 x 21mm
YMCA12 Logo 25 x 37mm
YMCA13 Logo 29 x 29mm (almost square)

Note!. Measurement of logos is without the word "Canadian" or "American" but taken from top to bottom and then by width of logo section only.

Another criteria for organizing would be the exact width of the (red) top bar in the YMCA triangle.

I agree Doug and I measured it from the top of the triangle to the tip at the bottom, and again for the width across the top of the triangle (which is the widest section).

The Type numbers are really my own and I don't know if an earlier research has been done on the YMCA logos of WW I??

Rod's scan is interesting too and YMCA logos were used for WW II as well. I think they printed new logos from the same dies, - if I can use that term, but added the wording "Spirit, Mind, Body". (Although I am not sure on this point.) I mention this because I have seen "I Am Well" cards from WW I used very early in WW II.

Thanks everyone for your input
