Poster stamp issued by the STOOMVAART MAATSCHAPPIJ ZEELAND (SMZ). This company operated ferry services between Vlissingen (in Netherlands) to England (Queenborough, Dover, Tilbury, Folkestone, Port Victoria and Harwich). Years 1875-1989.
The stamp exist with text in English and Dutch, and in brown and black colors.
The above stamp is in German. In the left hand side above the sailor's arm it says "TAG und NACHTDIENST". In Dutch that would read "DAG en NACHTDIENST", almost the same but not quite. Also, the German word for Continent is "Kontinent", in Dutch "Continent". Maybe the stamp was issued in both English and German?
