Flaws, Character And Bargains?

Can't sleep so time to ramble philosophically on one of the stamp thoughts running through my mind. I am going to a stamp show on Sunday and I might seriously look for some less "desirable" stamps that might translate into real bargains. Have I become a such stamp snob that only perfect centering, perfect perfs, and no tears or thins are the only stamps I can buy? Doesn't a stamp with a torn corner that is over a hundred years old just reflect character? If the front of the stamp looks great do I care if there is a thin - if so, why don't we display stamps to show the backside if that's so important - "don't look at the front but wow what a great backside this has!" That's a super cancellation but it has gum disturbance - put it back. It's time we stop discriminating! (Except for those cancels that wipe out the picture on the front of the stamp - I would never buy one of those.) Sorry - I'm having election withdrawal. I'm going back to bed.
