I'm looking to invest some money and purchase this stamp in MNH, however one concern is that there may be an issue with the lower right hand corner perf being either SP or PP. Is it just me?

That perf missing (?) is a a shame; otherwise it is a beautiful stamp!
I do not know enough about these to give any opinions!

There are a number of perfs in the top margin that are impaired as well. I would wait for a stamp that does not have faults.

For me, if the price was right and reflected the short corner perfs and off centre placing I would buy it. This is the best of the Mississippi stamps and was, I believe, based on a Frederick Remington picture. I have this fine used, but would like a mint example, hinged or unmounted, to go with my mint Buffalo Hunting Indian. Perfect examples, if you can find them, seem to be getting hellish expensive now.

The centering isn't that bad, but I agree with you that I want the perfs to at least be in good shape.

Thanks, that pretty much summed it up for me. I just wanted to run it by someone else to confirm the issues I saw at first glance.

It all depends on your criteria and pocketbook. The lower right hand corner I don't think is a fault but the result of the Stamps being line perforated, someone will hopefully correct me if I'm wrong. It's a nice attractive stamp but it is off center right and to the top, but improving on that will only raise the price. Also, keep in mind that the 289 is very difficult to find well centered with balanced margins and for never hinged you're probably looking at $300+ and I don't think you'd ever recover that cost on resale.
