Is there anything about this stamp? It is imperf at the top and bottom and the perf on the right look different. It is on a cover with a postmark 1933. Thanks for any input and feed back. Thanks.

Could it be either of two thing start/end of a roll or some one hacked at it with a pair of scissors.

Hi joe, tks for your response. I dont think someone hacked it. It doesnt look to be cut.Mine is on a cover.No reason for someone to cut it and sent it on a cover.There ought to be an explanation. lets wait for the forum experts opinions.

The stamp is a Scott 599 coil stamp. These were cut that way and sold in rolls.

It is a Sc 599. They made millions and were in service for years. Some people would cut from coil with scissors and some have used other objects. The perf job wasn't centered well. Remember many people that worked in offices collected stamps either for themselves or others. I would imagine when they had the time they would try to keep the stamp intact on coils with bad perfs.
