Hungary 2012 Europa - Tourism. Of the 2 stamps in the miniature sheet, one featuring books is showing some views of the libray in the Archabbey of Pannonhalma, a world heritage site.

Braidense National Library



The Braidense National Library in Milan, is one of Italy's largest libraries and one of the 47 Italian State libraries.
The Braidense Library was created in 1770 by Maria Theresa of Austria and opened in 1786.
It has almost 900.000 printed volumes, 2.119 manuscripts and 2.368 incunabulas.

The National Library of Luxemburg



The National Library of Luxemburg was established in 1899
in place of the municipal library which dated from 1798.
It has around 750,000 books and 3500 periodicals.

Reading room in an industrial factory library, designed by Ferenc Gál, printed by photogravure, and issued by Hungary on April 4, 1955 as one of a set of four stamps commemorating the 10th anniversary of Hungary's liberation, Scott No. 1109.

National Library of Iceland



The first national library of Iceland was established in 1818.
From 1908 to 1994 the National Library of Iceland housed in building on stamp.
In the building was also museum and archives.

Biblioteca Joanina



The Joanina Library is the Baroque library of the University of Coimbra.
It was built in time of the reign of the Portuguese King Joao V (1689-1750).
The library contains around 250.000 volumes.

Austrian National Library



Austrian National Library is the largest library in Austria, with 7,4 million items in its collections.
It is located in the Hofburg Palace in Vienna and has its origin in the imperial library of the Middle Ages
in the time of Austrian Duke Albert III (1349-1395).

and houses several million volumes, among them illuminated manuscripts of Qur`an,

Here is an image of a stamp depicting Eugenios Voulgaris (1716-1806), a Greek scholar, prominent Greek Orthodox educator, and bishop of Kherson (in Ukraine) in his library, printed by lithography, and issued by Greece on June 21, 1971 as one of a set of 22 stamps commemorating the 150th anniversary of Greece's uprising against the Turks, Scott No. 1007.

The Malatestiana Library



The Malatestiana Library is a public library in Cesena, Italy.
It was the first European civic library, belonging to the Commune,
rather than the church, and open to the public.
It was built from 1447 to 1452.

Royal University Library and the Royal Land Archives - Zagreb, Croatia



The building of the Royal University Library and the Royal Land Archives was completed in 1913.
It was built in Art Nouveau style by architect Rudolf Lubynski (1873-1935).

The National Library of Liechtenstein



The National Library, founded in 1961 by a private initiative, has three main functions:
as the national library it collects everything printed or published by Liechtensteiners or about Liechtenstein.
This also includes all film, picture and audio material. As an academic library it stocks essential
specialist literature or obtains it from foreign libraries. And as a public library it makes available
to the people a wide-ranging stock of books, films, audio books etc. for entertainment and self-improvement.
Some 4,700 users annually from Liechtenstein and the surrounding region avail themselves of this facility.

National Library of Moldova



The National Library of Moldova was founded on August 22, 1832.
In front of the building is a statue of Vasile Alecsandri (1821-1890) Romanian poet, playwright nad and diplomat.
