A similar claim involves Lysander Spooner in the United States; he's also thoroughly written up in Wikipedia.

Nice cover Rod, thanks for sharing the image. Apparently the book comes with gummed examples of his stamps - I will scan and post when they arrive.

I particularly like the letter from Rowland Hill to James Chalmers.
