Just received email from delcampe -- Strange thing is I have never used delcampe althouhgh I did sign up at least a year or more ago. Below is basic body of email with pertinent info X'd out. As with any password issues I trust nothing so I am wondering if anyone else has received this and has the site been comprimised? Our system has detected a possible risk as regards your password on Delcampe.
For safety reasons, we have changed it for you.
You must now follow the following steps in order to be able to log in again:
1. Retrieve your new password via the page "My Delcampe> Lost Password" by entering your xxxxxxxxxxxxx http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
2. Log in to the site and choose a new password via the page "My Delcampe> Account> My information> Contact details": http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
3. If you are using your Delcampe password on other websites, we recommend as a precautionary measure that you modify it too.

I did also get this email earlier this morning. I haven't been to the site yet to check things out, but I know that I wasn't going to follow the links provided in the email. Here shortly, I will go directly to the site and see what I can find out. |

So has the whole site been hacked and what other info is at risk? Like I said I have never used them but you would think other info may have been at risk. I wouldn't have a clue what password I used any way but also was not going to use any links for information like this. I did click on the read more details and page would not load. |

Just read that page - Doesn't sound like an actual breach of info but more along the lines of a phishing scam that maybe sucked in a couple people. These scams mimic many top websites so it never hurts to say over and over - DO not click on links in email that direct you to a login page regardless how good it looks . If in doubt manually type the website address and check your account info that way. |

I also got this email this morning but was wary of it and left it. I still have it and I am glad to see that others in here received it as well and most of all, that it is legit.

Seb (owner-manager of Delcampe) came onto StampBoards and confirmed the resets, just to be safe. Making the change is fully legitimate. It's a great auction, but their security has always been on the iffy side.
They are going to have to spend some serious bucks to lock things down. |

Hi
I just received the e-mail.
Even though I am / was registered on the site I have never used it. Checking a few things I assumed it was legitimate and I tried changing the password but they had closed my account, probably because I never used it. The e-mail address was one of my "disposal addresses" so since the address was "disposal" I just went and deleted it. That way no one can e-mail me using that address.
Disposal addresses are one of the advantages of using Yahoo mail.

Your missing another reason for the E-MAIL ...........They are cleaning up their files and want to remove all the dead accounts ,or someone is really looking to buy them but first needs a recent and correct accounting of how many customers are on their books . |

Ridiculous. There is no way a company would admit a security breach that didn't happen for either of those reasons. Companies go out of their way to cover up security breaches for crying out loud, they're not going to make one up. |

I don't understand what possible risk my password could bring but I change it. Floortrader may be right they just email us about that to see if we are still alive and pay interest to Delcampe. In the past I bought on Delcampe quit a few time nothing like I did on ebay. I never had any problem with any sellers. Sorry for them i'm broke by now. I understand Nitro being afraid of those unexpected emails. A month ago clicking on a scam a pseudo virus protection software was install on my PC and it took me 8 hours to get rid of it. Every time I was clicking something it tells me I have a virus and that I have to subscribe and pay for protection. I finally got rid off it booting in safe mode and doing a system restore. |

SCUBU---------settle down ,were all friends here .........you said--"There is no way a company would admit a security breach"--------this is what I read above ---"Our system has detected a POSSIBLE risk"----sorry we are not agreeing here but a "SECURITY BREACH" is not the same as "DETECTED A RISK" |

Hello, I can confirm this email about changing your password was true. Please check here: http://www.delcampe.net/announcemen...id=2367#2367Regarding any "advantage" we would have to this: we will simply lose members because they will give up changing their password. So, ideas about any financial operation on our side is simply, sorry to say this, ridiculous. Regards, Seb Delcampe |

Just to be sure, I have changed my Delcampe password by going direct, and the passwords on all my other accounts, even though they are different from the Delcampe password. Didn't take long. Probably worth doing on a regular basis anyway.
