In the beginning to the middle of the 20th century, the Indian rupee was extensively used as currency in the countries of the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula. (Wiki) Bahrain had an Indian postal administration from 1884. Bahrain used Indian stamps overprinted with BAHRAIN from 1933 to 1948. A British postal administration operated from April 1948 until December 1965. From 1948 to 1960 it used Great Britain stamps overprinted with BAHRAIN and the Indian currency.
