So, I collect world-wide Airmail stamps. I saw these critters in an auction and was immediately attracted to the overprint "Avion". Ah-ha! New addition for my collection.
Well, now that I have them, I started trying to figure out what they are.
My Romanian is rusty, but they appear to be stamps affixed to mail that was exempt from postage. The added overprint 'Prin Avion' indicates that the item to which it is affixed is going by air and is exempt from postage.
I have been lead to believe that the date is somewhere around 1947. I would be very interested to hear from anyone else who might have futher information about these guys?
