I believe that the 50 franc stamp depicts show jumping, rather than steeplechasing. |

22crows - Thanks. I suspect that you may be right, but the Scott Standard Stamp Catalogue (2008 ed.) indicates otherwise, and "in the event" I decided to go with their description. - nethryk |

This isn't a stamp but I would be remiss if I let this thread pass (given the threads title) without making note of the Mr. Ed and Studebaker relationship. Studebaker sponsored the Mr. Ed show and they used Studebakers extensively during the filming. Here is a YouTube video of Mr. Ed promoting Studes in a vintage commercial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKAnMlxNv64Studebaker also produced a postcard, here is one from my collection It features Alan Young, Connie Hines, Mr. Ed and a 1962 Lark Skytop. On the back it states; As Mr. Ed would say, "It's plain good horse sense to see, price and test-drive the one car that offers Big Car Comfort at compact prices - the beautifully styled '62 Lark by Studebaker. It's a real thoroughbred." don |
