In my opinion: fakes. The large amount of legit overprints from the Russian Civil War period is often misused to create fantasy overprints in order to deceive the less informed collector.

I agree with Jan ,stuff that has never seen the light of day for 50 years ,with no past references can be assumed as recent made material to cheat collectors.

They say (don't know how reliable 'they' are) that old Eastern European/Russian stuff sits around by the pallet load.

Awfully tempting to try to increase interest, if that's true.
