My Scott catalogue implies that this stamp has an upright watermark, but on this copy - the only one I have - it's sideways.

Does anyone know if (as I suspect) the Scott entry is misleading and the sideways watermark is normal for this issue?

Yes, Gibbons indicates that all values of this set have a sideways watermark EXCEPT the 1925 £1 stamp.

Thanks, Doug, as I thought, Scott has it the wrong way.

As Doug said, that stamp was only issued with a sideways watermark. No watermark varieties exist on that stamp either.

Doesn't Scott Classic say that the 1-pound is found both ways?

(If we aren't talking about 114/114a, then never mind.)

[Follow-up: Bridger & Kay notes that all shades of the 1/4 d. and 1/2 d., and two colorways of the 1d., as well as the 4d., exist with inverted watermarks. The 1922 1-pound is sideways, and the 1925 1-pound is standard. Or so they say.]
