I was going around the old city of Jerusalem this morning and much to my surprise I have found this mailbox. It is no longer in use, and as can be seen is more of an ashtray nowadays than anything else; but still - thought of sharing.

There are very few British Mail Boxes in Israel left from when the country was a British Mandate, and the ones I know don't carry King George V or King George VI initials anymore. They were erased back in the days when preservation was not such a hot word, as it is today.

Nice piece of History Avi !
I believe I have photographed this before, maybe it's here at SCF somewhere..but the memory !

It wouldn't be on the outer wall of the Austrian Hospice would it ? Time to fish out some old pics !

Thanks for posting it. It reminds me that it is ages since we met. Are you free sometime for a coffee ?

LB,

Yes you are right. It just out of the Austrian Hospice.

It would be great having some coffee together. And if we are at it, why not in the hospice? I had a great coffee there today and they will be more than willing to have us there for another one. Will write you tomorrow and we'll try to arrange a meeting...
