Nice card Zipper. But I wonder why the postmark says 1905 while the not is dated 1903?

Hi All

The postmark from Vancouver is 1903.

The smaller marking is a 'carrier' one, most likely one that was used by a mail carrier in Vancouver who simply entered the wrong date.(This part is just a guess.)

I believe this was carrier #2 in the city because they were all applied numbers.

If you "blow up" that smaller carrier marking, you will see it is "03"! The typeface used for the number "3" has a very small top section on it that can easily be mistaken for "05".

(Just look at the shape of the bottom of the "2"s in that marking and you'll see similar differences in the typeface than most standard ones of that day.)

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I did blow up the image on my screen, but couldn't get a clear enough picture to tell is was 1903.

I bought it because I love the Victoria stamp, and the fact that there were Zionists meeting in Canada way back then. Were they a clandestine group? What were they proposing? Does the group still exist? Did they meet their goals?
