@quigngt 4.5 million is an estimate that they gave me, based on how many fit on one pallet. However, they are all from 2010 to 2012, nothing of any great historic value.

I thought they were worthless. They would have been sent off to be incinerated or recycled or something if I had not said I would take them. Even then, I only said I would take them because I thought the stamps would have value as kiloware.

I was picturing myself cutting stamps out with scissors for the next few months, thinking I would get $50 for a kilo at best. Now it turns out I can save myself the work, and sell them as they are for even more than kiloware.

I think I have to go away a while, get myself some books on stamps, covers, and some general information, to make sure I don't mess this up.

When I looked on ebay and saw covers from 2012 selling for $1, I got quite excited. Even if I sell them at 20 cents I would be laughing. The most I have ever had in the bank in my entire life was about 10k for a down payment.

I am trying to not let myself get too excited at the moment, the cynic in me keeps telling me it can't be this easy.

Thanks so far to everyone who has answered and given advice, it is all much appreciated. If I do end up getting rich from this some how, you are all coming to Disney land or the Bahamas or some place.

I'll drop in again once the holidays are over, I'm still quite busy here. (Santa don't come until the 7th of Jan in Spain)

I think your question for me was answered. 4,500,000 is a lot of anything.

Hi everyone, remember me?

So, I am finally getting the envelopes delivered. However, I am not going to be able to sell any of it as covers unfortunately. The letters are all addressed to a company, from tens of thousands of different people, and they all had certain rights when sending the letters.

It turns out I can go to prison for 8 years and have a 300.000 euros fine imposed on me if I actually sold any. It would be against the data protection laws, and also against certain parts of the constitution of the country, under the parts regarding the right to correspondence and the right to privacy.

However, I can pull out a guillotine and turn it all to kiloware and then sell that, so I guess I'll be getting a space ready to cut it all up on.

Thanks Again

Wow, good thing you checked! Yes I can appreciate privacy laws would prohibit this especially if the company deals with sensitive information.

How did you come upon this deal anyway? That in itself sounds interesting.

Remember that the cancellations and postmarks are very collectible also. Save them and sell them on paper with the stamps please!
A cancel collector.

Hi JackBrown

Why can you not just black out the senders name and address?

"The letters are all addressed to a company, from tens of thousands of different people, and they all had certain rights when sending the letters."

Very hard to believe...even for a European Union country. On sending a letter (paper and ink) the sender does retain some rights. The ownership of the letter goes to the recipient who may sell, preserve, or most other things. Only thing that cannot be does is quote the letter in full. As the envelope forms no part of the letter, there is no copyright involved. As the envelopes have only stamps plus an address I fail to see what copyright has been compromised... unless the covers were sold or obtained without the companies permission of course.
