All - I am curious as to what processes you all use for trading (for those that trade)

I just got started trading with another member, and although we just got started, I have so-far enjoyed locating stamps for him that he needs and look forward to filling my collection holes as well.

What process do you all use? - e.g., do you trade Catalog Value for Catalog Value, stamp for stamp, do you maintain a running balance and try to equalize it over time, do you try to make a balanced trade every time.

Do you hold your traded stamps until you have accumulated enough to make the postage cost lower/per/stamp?

Do you trade country for country, or, do you trade stamps of one country where you are strong for stamps of another where you are weak (e.g. I have thousands of algeria, but only 3 Aland)

Just curious on everyones thoughts?

Thanks,
Eric

Good thoughtful questions, but I am not a trader. I sell what I don't want, and buy what I do want. Unfortunately, I do not sell on SCF.

Hi Eric, in the distant past I used to trade catalog for catalog...now I have so many duplicates and stamps that do not fit my collecting needs that if someone has something I can use I can afford to be generous..it seems silly to me anymore to be saying I am 4.58 (scott) ahead of you ! What does the catalog value mean except for keeping score ?

Interesting question Eric

When I am dealing with cheap stamps, I have traded in numbers of 100 to 250 at a time on a 1-4-1 basis. I want CV for CV with stamps usually $1.00 and up.
