Notice a difference in the first stamp compared to the other two, but unable to definitely pin point the difference though am sure there is a variety in color. Is it under inked or something else with the top stamp or am I just imagining. Thanks.

The Scott 279 is known in deep green, green, yellow green and dark yellow green. The stamp was issued in Jan. 1898 and wasn't replaced untilFeb. 3, 1903 with
5,216,159,932 issued. With the stamp being printed for over 5 years there was considerable shade variance.
