Not just one idiot buyer, 4 of them. I certainly hope for once ebay backs the seller (Highly doubtful) but I don't think the buyer should be allowed a refund. Doing one's homework is a must in this hobby. |

Quote: In truth though, if I were the seller, I'd be more than happy to work this out with the buyer. Couldn't look at myself in the mirror knowing that I'd hoodwinked someone like that. Though I wouldn't use the word hoodwink, as I don't think the seller did it intentionally. It was stupid bidders that put pushed the price up. |

My take is that the seller is not doing anything wrong, but likely was fully aware the not giving a correct and complete discribtion of the sale item he is fishing for those of little knowledge and some means. Most sales will include a catalog # as a matter of fact indicating the correct item. It's a dealer using buyer beware as an out! |

ANOTHER QUESTIONABLE ebay SALE !As this is the same subject and in the main collecting forum, I thought I'd add this here. Quote: what do I think ? I think if you jump too quickly or are not knowledgable about the item you are buying you might get burned ! Here is someone else that got burned...big time ! Too late for me to do anything about it but I will be writing to the seller who is one of the biggest GB dealers and goes to all the major shows. This is downright cheating and they well know it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/30084052413....m1423.l2649These are no more Rainbow Trials that droplets of rain on blotting paper. And they are worse than even that....cut-outs of Cinderella labels, half labels, disgusting. It's not the first time that sellers have tried to make big money on these cheapies but for a big company to do it is deplorable. I wonder what sucker spent all that cash on damaged labels. Londonbus1....seething. |

LB1, I remember even back in the 1980's that same dealer was involved in dubious Tuvalu stamps. Nothing new with that dealer. |

I agree with Warrehouse's analysis. The seller is being marginally honest and hoping for a sucker. To play devil's advocate though, what about the buyer? Isn't he thinking that he's fleecing the seller by getting about $20K (or more) worth of stamps for next to nothing? |

My feeling is that the seller of the Columbians was being "selectively honest". He gave the bare minimum of information, perhaps with the hope that what occurred actually might. While it is the buyer's responsibility to know what he is buying, the seller could have done a lot more to insure that this did not occur, since this makes the seller look bad as well. |

I thought the new ebay Terms of service required the seller to put in the description that they are replicas. I may be mistaken. I sell alot of Raku pottery on ebay and I always put detailed descriptions in. Some people don't put any description at all. Like you said, he could have added a wee bit more. |

They are not replicas, they are legitimate reissues the USPS did in 1992. Scott #'s 2624 - 2629 |

No matter how right the seller is, ebay will allow the buyer to return the stamps, and seller will be forced to refund money. Remember, ebay protects buyers and screws sellers. *** Edited by Staff - Please Review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. *** |
