Just seen the results and prices realized for a major stamp auction in California.
The most note worthy part was the section of Worldwide Collections. There was a 57 Scott Junior International Worldwide collection up for auction. It had country collections which when up to 1993 and some to 2000.It had all countries and all period and nothing expensive. The firm estimated it to sell around $6,000 to $8,000.00
As a collector of worldwide stamps it was interesting to see how it would sell and if there are still buyers at that level would push the price up.
Happy to report the final price was $17,000 plus a additional $2550 for commissions so it sold just under $20,000.00 sweet .

The classic end of WW collecting is doing well likewise.

The Harmer-Schau auction in California had an extensive Scott "Big Blue" 1840-1940 Album in three binders with estimate $6-$8 thousand sell for $16 thousand + (with buyers premium).

Good news- definitely more interest.

Bad news- tough for us ordinary folks with slim wallets.

Piecemeal will have to do- not that I would want to do it any other way.

I've been slowly going through a WW acquisition and although there are not the early classics the sheer volume is in the 35000+++ unique catalog numbers. My thoughts to spruce things up slowly would be to buy small early low priced lots to make the main countries look more attractive. However even at $10 for a couple early album pages would add up extremely fast . All these are in smal glassines inside their represented country named envelopes so in order for this to ever be anything more than very nice kiloware would require an outlay of probably $1000 just in stock books or vario pages (probably much more) however it is nice to see that their is potential interest .

And don't forget the 19th century Worldwide collection that was the subject of an earlier thread (https://goscf.com/t/28685) that was sold by Spink Shreves for $230,000 USD against a $75-100K estimate in November 2012.
