Sounds familiar. If it is before 1940 I am happy to collect a hinged world airmail stamps. Like he stated for the price of one never hinged you can get 10 hinged stamps.
Of course my US collection is collected as best one can striving for complete never hinged items. But you need to be cautious and now how to spot regums or have a certificate accompany the stamp especialy for anything before 1940.
