Needing Clarification On Garfield 6c Scott# 161.

While sorting out some US stamp noticed this stamp looked a bit different. The potrait of Garfield seem some like distorted and the color matches none described in the scott 2008. Colour described in scott red orange and this stamp looks more brown orange. I may not be sure or probably not identifying the color right.Have tried locating this color for this stamp online but found none.The stanp at the lover side looks a orange and the right more like brown. Would appreciate any inputs and feed backs.Thanks.



Bottom left side looks more orange.



Bottom right side looking brown.

The color change appears to a case of oxidation of the earth-element pigments used in the printing inks of the period. The distortion your seeing may be an affect of an optical illusion caused by the intensity and density of the precancel bars against the the background colors.
