I am looking for some information. I have not been able to find mention in my catalogue of the size of the stamps. The stamps that I am looking at are Canada sc# 35, 36 and 37. There are two different sizes, one type is taller and wider, than the other.
what is the explanation. Thanks in advance for the info

The picture should help.

I am guessing you are looking for the differences between the small and large queens. The numbers you list refer to the small queens 1-2-3c . You can differentiate them by size which is a big difference as well as the small queens just have the word cents in the lower tablet- ie 2cents2 where the large queens will have the words 2twocents2
Pictured is the small queen 3c if this was the large queen it would have the words "Three cents" at the bottom

Sonic, I assume you mean the height of the stamps from perforation to perforation. The height varies considerably on the small queens, even within the same sheet. It is just the way the perforation machine worked. The height variances have very little significance.

Do a search for Small Queens in the title and you will find plenty of information here.

Further to what BeeSee said...there were multiple printings of these stamps in Montreal and Ottawa which affected perforation size and colours.

Sonic: thanks for the great Allenford, Ontario, socked-on-the-nose (son, sotn) cds cancel. The village straddles Arran and Amabel Townships in Bruce County and owes its beginnings and its name to the easiest spot for early settlers to cross the Sauble River. Its post office was established in 1868.
