I found his Guatemalan stamp Scott design a25. Scott number 92 is a a25 with black overprint.

This overprint however is inverted, there is no listing in Scott for an inverted overprint. Is this a forgery or bogus stamp? I am hoping some of our Guatemalan experts ( Phil and Greg) have some more detailed catalogues and can identify this stamp

The ISGC Postage Stamps of Guatemala 1871-2007 says the following:

1898 Provisionals on Engraved Revenue Stamps

Surcharged by Tipografia Nacional on revenue stamps of 1898 format 10 wide by 5 high. Issued between October 8 & late November 1898. Many forged and bogus surcharge "varieties" were made on 1c lilac rose fiscal; #100 (red 2c on 1c) was deleted as it does not exist in genuine form.

Rick, I envy you...i have a page for bogus Guatemalas..that I pick up in mixtures etc..as long as we do not buy them as the real thing...i think Greg and I can recommend a book for you at this stage of your collecting..its not expensive and you really probably do need it..The Postage Stamps of Guatemala 1871-1999..i think its about 20 bucks...it even lists how many of each stamp were printed..most were only one million..not many eh ? Some of the higher value air mails only 3 Thousand were printed..and yet they are available on the market and not expensive !!

Rick, dont let the guys from the Guatemala Society hear you calling me an Xpert..i have seen exhibits that these guys display and it makes me sick !! Like does someone really have the money to build an exhibit like this ?? These guys usually have one dealer or provider that looks for items for them..these specialized dealers can root out the most fantastic stuff...with a price tag to match. I do not have or probably never will have the proofs and essays and other exotic stuff these guys have...one guy had an exhibit of "the indian woman" on cover....i have never seen one for sale !!
