I have seen several posts on the royal visit to Canada and the US in 1939 but do not see a specific topic on it, so I thought I would give it a go. I got this cover in a antique store a few years ago for 50 cents. I don't normally collect Canadian covers but I liked how this looked. Anyone have an idea on who created the cachet? Thanks, yakboomer.

yakboomer...Take a close look at the 1939 statue stamp to see if there is a black colour shift downwards...see my example....Nice cover though.

Your cover is on page 3. Unfortunately, no commentary on who created the cachet.

Wert, here is a closeup, I think it has the color shift but my image is not as vivid as yours. The only Canadian catalog I have is a Brookman 2011.

You also have the French version of the Royal Train camcellation. They were used about 2 or 3 days less than the English version.

There are numerous cachets for the 1939 Royal Visit to Canada, Newfoundland the U.S. While in the U.S., they visited the NYWF. There were also a lot of personal cachets created for this event too. Also, some covers used for the visit had some cachets that were used for the 1937 coronation.

They were in the United States from June 8th to the 11th. The covers with the royal couple visiting the fair are difficult for me because I don't know whether to include them in my 1939 RV album or in the album for the 1939 NYWF

If this link can be considered accurate, they attribute the cachet to Staehle. They further reference it to be Parks Catalog 191 DES RR 1:

yakboomer...Your stamp is a Unitrade # 247i....Looks like your stamp is about a 3 or 4 stair shift downward...Can't tell unless I have the stamp in my hand...Your stamp used is about $10.00 for very fine.

If it were new and never hinged, it would go for about $60.00, as mine is.

You could buy 2 of each cover and put one in each album.

Rhino--- that's a nice attempt at a website. It's a shame the scans aren't larger.

To the best of my knowledge, Glenn Estus is the only one I have seen so far that has listed so many of the different cachets. True, the images could be larger.

I guess this is where we, as individuals, decide whether to expand or create our own websites on any given topic.
