This issue is becoming quite a widespread success. I guess the question should now be asked.....Which is quicker? Snail mail or turtle mail?

Personally while I do like Turtles, I am more partial to escargots.

Perhaps just to try to provoke some controversy, I'm going to ask why is Canada issuing a stamp to celebrate a candy snack invented in the U.S.? Don't we have enough of our own home-grown candy celebrities we can commemorate? How about Ganongs or Moirs? Or, if no-one knows who they are, perhaps we can celebrate the Oh Henry bar, admittedly invented in the U.S. but perfected in Canada and a staple up here but rarely seen south of the 49th parallel.

The Turtle stamp is Picture Postage so it wasn't really issued to celebrate Turtles. Anyone can create this stamp. The only difference is the postage rate which is not normal so that probably took a bit of negotiating with Canada Post.

See the original discussion here: https://goscf.com/t/28441&SearchTerms=turtles

And here's the discussion about the new Picture Postage:

=) I can see the person's name and address. Not that I'm going to do anything about it. Just thought it was funny.

After NBstamper reminded me about Oh Henry candy bars I did a little google research on them...i never see them anymore..they are indeed manufactured in Canada now..google says they are available in certain U.S. markets. Theres even a recipe for them on the net so you can make your own Oh Henrys !1

Canadians of a certain age will remember these old TV commercials for Turtles ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0GEMuj4I5Q

Reminds me of this classic commercial for the Oh Henry! bar.

Chocolate bar fans need to try an Eat-More bar next time they're in Canada. Outstanding! More of a fudge than a chocolate - it doesn't melt on your fingers when you hold it. Wilf Carter tunes not included, except on old commercials ...
